Οι Nevermore είναι ένα χαρακτηριστικό δείγμα συνειδητοποιημένης αντίληψης γύρω από τους στίχους και τη μουσική που έχουν επιλέξει να γράφουν και είναι διάχυτη σε όλη την πορεία της ζωής του συγκροτήματος.
Ξεκινώντας απ' τις στάχτες των Sanctuary (οι οποίοι πρόλαβαν και άφησαν πίσω τους παρακαταθήκη υψηλού επιπέδου metal τραγούδια -τόσο σε στίχους όσο και σε μουσική- όπως τα "Termination Force", "Communion", "One More Murder", "Future Tense", "Taste Revenge") το 1992, τα 3 εναπομείναντα μέλη δημιούργησαν τους Nevermore (που κατά τον Warrel Dane (singer) μεταφράζεται ως "Ποτέ Ξανά" στα ίδια λάθη του παρελθόντος).
Η μουσική τους είναι κατά βάση metal, σύγχρονο μεν, πανάξια παιγμένο δε.
Το πιο αγαπημένο άλμπουμ τους για μένα είναι ασφαλώς το "The Politics Of Ecstacy" λόγω καυστικών στίχων και όγκου στον ήχο της κιθάρας.
Τους έχω δει live 2 φορές, με Anihilator το 2000 και το 2004 με Biomechanical και πραγματικά ένιωσα τυχερός τότε που είδα μια "μεγάλη" μπάντα του μέταλ στα ντουζένια της!
Το χαρακτηριστικότερο όμως σημείο σ' αυτή την μπάντα (πέρα απ' τη φωνάρα του "ψάλτη" Dane και τους νεωτερισμούς που εισήγαγαν στον ήχο του μεταλ) είναι το στιχουργικό.
Σνομπάροντας τελείως τα αναμασημένα motos άλλων μεταλ συγκροτημάτων, τα στιχουργικά αδιέξοδα που καταλήγουν σε τυποποιημένους στίχους, καθώς και τη φθηνή "ποιητική αδεία", καταθέτουν στίχους απ' το πρώτο τους κι όλας άλμπουμ που αν μη τι άλλο δεν σ' αφήνουν αδιάφορο.
Είναι το συγκρότημα που τα 'χει βάλει -όσο λίγα άλλα- ανοιχτά κατά των θρησκειών, των πολιτικών μεθόδων χειραγώγησης των ανθρώπων και άλλων καίριων ζητημάτων της καθημερινής ζωής.
