Δίπλα στη πρώτη μας ανάσα η αρχή είναι χαραγμένη
βαθιά δείχνει το δρόμο κι επιμένει
να πάμε όλοι προς τα κει δεν είναι απλά συμβουλή
είναι η πρώτη απ' τη ζωή που συναντάμε προσταγή
και απαιτεί υποταγή και εμπιστοσύνη τυφλή
για να σου βάλει το πόδι πάνω στο πρώτο σκαλί.
Να σου λοιπόν κι ο πρώτος φόβος με το πάτημα
κι η πρώτη σκέψη για το τέλος είν' αμάρτημα
Καλώς ήρθες στο ταξίδι αυτό το γνώριμο
κάθε σκαλοπάτι εδώ σε θέλει πιο ώριμο.
Ν' αγαπάς μια για πάντα και το ίδιο να μισείς
να γελάς δυνατά πριν προλάβεις να χαρείς
να ονειρεύεσαι το μακρινό το μέλλον σου
είναι λιγοψυχιά να σκέφτεσαι το τέλος σου.
Μονάχα εδώ η αρχή μοιάζει με σπάνια ευκαιρία
και η ζωή με μια γλυκιά ιστορία.
Όμως το τέλος είναι αυτό που σε μαθαίνει ν' αγαπάς
σου αφήνει μνήμη δε σου δείχνει που να πας.
Στο τέλος ερωτεύεσαι, χάνεις, νικάς,
μετανιώνεις, σκέφτεσαι, ζητάς, διψάς,
μαθαίνεις, αποφεύγεις, ζηλεύεις, πονάς,
ντρέπεσαι, γιατρεύεσαι, πεθαίνεις γυρνάς.
Έχεις κουράγιο και ψάχνεις στη μικρή σου ιστορία
να βρεις κρυμμένη εκεί όλη τη μαγεία.

Είναι παράξενη η ζωή και γλυκιά ιστορία
είναι ένα δώρο ή μια βαριά τιμωρία
είν' η αρχή της μια καλή ευκαιρία,
όμως το τέλος είν' η μαγεία.

Όλα τα ωραία κι αυτά κάποτε τελειώνουν
μπαίνουν στην μνήμη μας κι εκεί για πάντα στοιχειώνουν
Και να σου πάλι ο φόβος όλος δικός σου
μια νέα αρχή μπερδεύει το δήθεν ριζικό σου
και νιώθεις πως σ' αδίκησε η ζωή τόσο πολύ
που πρέπει ν' αρχίσεις ξανά απ' το πρώτο σκαλί
Δεν είναι έτσι αυτό σίγουρα αλλού σε βγάζει
Φύγε μακριά αν το τέλος ακόμα σε τρομάζει.
Μπες στο ψέμα, αλλά κι αυτό κάποτε θα τελειώσει
κρύψου μες στο όνειρο για μια στιγμή να σε γλιτώσει
κι αν σε φέρει σε σημείο γι' αυτό να ικετεύεις
πού θα το βρεις και πού θα πας να το γυρεύεις
εσύ που το 'κανες κι αυτό συνώνυμο του πόνου

Είδες λοιπόν κρύβει σπάνιο και τρανό μεγαλείο
