Δεν θα καθυστερήσω με το να παινέψω το τραγούδι, όχι αμέσως· θέλω να κάνω μια ερώτηση σε όσους έχουν την γνώση για να μου απαντήσουν.
Ποιος ήταν ο Corum, σε ποια μυθολογία ανήκει και μήπως υπάρχει κάποιο site όπου μπορώ να βρω την ιστορία του;

Απάντηση με καθυστέρηση δύο χρόνων!

Ελπίζω να είσαι εσύ η κοπελιά που έγραψε και το μήνυμα "Διαβάστε με δική σας ευθύνη", το οποίο με άγγιξε πάρα πολύ και στο οποίο βρήκα πολλά κοινά στοιχεία με τη δική μου ζωή (όπως ήταν μέχρι πριν οκτώ χρόνια). Αν μάλιστα ακούς (ακόμα) epic metal, παίρνεις και μπόνους. Ελπίζω μόνο να γράφτηκες κιόλας μέλος (ποιά είσαι, ποιά είσαι;;; αρφ, αρφ!). Αλλά, κι αν δεν είσαι εσύ αυτή η κοπέλα, OK…

Στο προκείμενο: Το "Corum" δεν πρέπει να είναι ακριβές. Mάλλον ο «ποιητής» εννοεί Crom. Ο θεός Crom δεν ανήκει σε καμία μυθολογία. Είναι γέννημα της φαντασίας του αμερικανού συγγραφέα Robert Howard, ενός κλειστού, ιδιόρρυθμου ανθρώπου, με τάσεις απομόνωσης και ιδιαίτερη αδυναμία στη μητέρα του (αυτοκτόνησε μετά το θάνατό της), αλλά με γόνιμη φαντασία: ήταν ο πατέρας του Κόναν, του Βάρβαρου!

Δεν ξέρω αν έχεις διαβάσει τα βιβλία, ή έχεις δει την ταινία. Στην αρχή της ταινίας, ο πατέρας του μικρού Κόναν εξηγεί στον μικρό, ότι αρχή πάντων είναι ο Κρομ, ο θεός που εξαφάνισε όλες τις προυπάρχουσες θεότητες και που οι επίγονοί τους συνωμότησαν και τον καταπόντησαν στα έγκατα της γης. Αλλά εκεί συνεχίζει να ζει και περιμένει την ημέρα που θα ελευθερωθεί και θα επιστρέψει σε όλη του τη δόξα.

Ο Κρομ λοιπόν είναι ο Θεός των Κιμμερίων. Θεός της εποχής προ του μεγάλου Κατακλυσμού (προσοχή, σου μιλάω με τους όρους του Χάουαρντ, μη μπερδευτούμε κιόλας), ένας θεός που «επόπτευε» την κοιλάδα των Νεκρών κι ενδιαφερόταν ελάχιστα για το ανθρώπινο γένος (πέρα από κάποιες μικρές παρεμβάσεις προς όφελος του Κόναν του Βάρβαρου, μέσα στις ιστορίες). Ο άνθρωπος «επί Κρομ» ουσιαστικά ήταν απροστάτευτος και survivor με την κυριολεκτική σημασία της λέξης.

Ηταν ο τυπικός Θεός που θα διάλεγε ο Χάουαρντ, ο οποίος ήταν ένα κράμα ρομαντικού και μηδενιστή (είναι αυτό που λένε «ο κυνικός είναι ο πληγωμένος ρομαντικός»), ένας απαισιόδοξος που μόνο στο θάνατο βρήκε την προστασία που ζητούσε.
